Victor,
I did this back on the 4th of July. I traveled from the Detroit area to
Madison, WI via Chicago. it was about 1100 miles round trip. The trip was
un-escorted and quite fun. I did have some backup plans just in case
something did happen.

First, and most important tools in your spitfire emergency kit are a good
cell phone, AAA insurance (or similar Auto club ins.), and some cash. Tow
trucks accept Cash only, unless contacted by one of the autoclub people.

Second, have a plan for an alternate way home.

Third, Bring a small tool box and small spares. Small spares are things
like hoses, clamps, wire, wire connectors, etc. I fit these things into a
small box and carry them with me at all times. I have seen others pack these
small spares between the inner and outer rear fender and above the rear
wheel wells.

Fourth, absolutely dont't forget to have a good time.
