Hello gang!

I am still trying to figure out what is causing my front end shake on
Freddy. I am pretty sure it is not a tire balance issue, I have had the
same problem with three sets of tires - two different sets of wheels too.
Also it feels like the whole steering column is shaking side to side rather
than a "rotational" feeling in the wheel like a wheel out of balance. I
recently removed and adjusted the Koni shocks - while I had everything
apart I tried to find evidence of worn parts - everything seems nice and
tight - the previous owner had rebuilt the front end aprox. 5000 miles
before I bought the car. The shaking starts out as a slow side to side
feeling at 45-50 and increases in frequency as I go faster, other than it
usually smooths right out around 65, then gets worse again at 70+.

Car particulars are 77 frame and tub, 69 engine, MKIII front springs, Koni
shocks adjusted 3/4 towards hard. If it makes any difference I think the
steering column is from a 79-80 as it has the plastic binnacle. I do have a
small amount of play in my steering universal, but I know that won't make a
difference as it was new (and tight) last year - speaking of cheap parts!

Any thoughts?? Do they all do this??

Freddy the Spit

I did make it to the VTR show at Ft. Williams for an hour or so - saw some
great cars but did not get a chance to meet anyone. Freddy was the red Spit
with the trunk rack and no badges parked at the edge of the field right
behind that wild TR8 racecar.
