FWIW, the green "outdoor" rat baits from Home Depot seem to work fine for
our "roof rats". I put them in places that larger animals (dogs, cats)
can't get to, like under a box with a hole in it or up in the rafters, eaves
and attic. Doesn't kill right away, so the rats will come back for more
over a week or so.
Seems to also have the effect of making them crave open spaces; at least
none of mine have died inside walls or hard to reach places.
