Here's another vote for a vent problem. That's the place I'd start looking
also. Do you have any trees over your roof that could be dropping leaves in
the vents? Any squirrels running around on your roof? They will sometimes
try to go down a vent, get stuck, and die.
I think you're on the right track with the snake. Let us know what you
find.
