I've smeared a thin coat of silicone rubber on the inside of radiator
and heater hoses in the area where the clamps will be and it works very
well. Just be sure to not use too much so that you don't have silicone
sealer floating around in your cooling system!
If a hose is really stuck I use a Sears cotter pin puller (looks like a
bent awl) slipped inside the end of the hose and worked around until the
hose pops free.
