I'm thinking about buying a scan tool for automotive diagnostic work.
They 
have some that run on PCs or palms.  The palm idea is intriguing to me.
It 
seems that the capabilities and prices of these varies, and I'm really

sure of the relative advantages and disadvantages of the different
