FWIW, Pep Boys (west coast auto parts chain) has an "automated" battery
tester that apparently doesn't do a proper load test. I took in a battery
that I knew to be bad (broken internal connection) to be tested, the first
test said the battery was fine. When I insisted on a retest, it said "needs
to be charged".
Funny thing is, a new battery (from somewhere else) solved the problem ...
