I've dealt with several of these, but one thing I've never found out
is exactly why do we have 110, 115, 120 volt and use them
interchangably?

And what is the difference between (origin of) 208, 230, and 240.
I've used a UPSthat pulled 208 off of one leg of 480 V 3 phase,
but I know that's not the usual way - or is it?
