Slotcars are still popular, and I'm a young'un by your definitions (32).
Most folks are probably thinking the HO scale stuff by Tyco, Aurora, etc.
but there is bigger stuff. I recall reading library books about the
larger scale stuff, and how people brazed together their own chassis from
Al tubes, etc. I'd bet those books were from the 60's....
www.slotcars.net sells this stuff, and I know there are a couple of tracks
in the PDX area.
