Peter,

How about finding a wooden pallet, screwing a sheet of plywood
to the top and then fastening some blocks to the plywood. These
should be in the position of the motor mounts and rear plate.
I don't know how far you are shipping it, but you may want to
fabricate a cover as well so that no parts go missing.
