I recommend for heavy grease that you don't wash the part in the part
washer prior to a good degreasing with some purple stuff by castrol or
any one of the other degreasers on the market.  Two reasons, one you
don't have to use harsh solvents in the parts cleaner and second you
don't contaminate the parts cleaner with an over load of grease and what
not.  It seems to work out cheaper to buy a can of degreaser for the
heavy jobs then to replace the fluid in the parts washer.

oh, for the problem with the pumps getting clogged or trash in them and
eventually failing.  In some parts cleaners the pump is elevated about
12" above the bottom of the holding tank.  This allows the junk to
settle to the bottom and allows the pump to draw fluid from the top
where it usually is cleaner.
