May not be for everyone, but I use a 55000btu kerosene bullet heater
in a 32x24x10 well-insulated garage. Around here (Wash. DC), I really
only need this about three months, but given an hour pre-heat time, it
will warm the shop up comfortably when the outside is 10-20F. It is
loud. Fumes, havn't been a problem except once, but a slight crack of
the main door provides more than enough fresh air. I decided on the
kersonse heater because it's cheap and available. Can't get NG, and
propane refills would be too much of a hassle. I can easily run the
heater for damn near the entire weekend on a 5gal can of kerosene.
