I found a 302 military motor today in a junkyard out of a 6x6 military
truck. It has side motor mounts. What do I have to do to get this military
block in my 1950 GMC originally equipped with a 228? Will the distributor
from the 228 interchange with the 302? The reason I ask is because the
ignition system on the engine is currently set up to allow deep-water
crossings. It has a large fully-sealed distributor cap and braided lines
protecting the spark plug wires. It also has an air compressor mounted on
the drivers side of the block, along with a generator big enough to power a
town. Watch your favorite auction site(s) on the internet, as I may be
putting them up for sale shortly.

Yeah. $400 truck in shop to hide from neighbors while Explorer is outside in
the weather. But no complaints really. What bothers me is how for some
reason people don't come to you and ask you to remove your eyesore, they go
complain to the authorities and make a capital deal out of it right off the
bat! A simple conversation asking you to do something about it seems a bit
more intelligent. Once they call the authorities, we feel like taking out
the rocket launchers and phaser rifles to properly settle the dispute. I do
like the idea of putting a "For Sale" sign on the beast tho. I can see how
there isnt anything anyone could do about it then. Sometimes the simplest
solution...
