I'm answering my own questions.

Edelbrock says the HP and the CID of the engine is the determining factor
for GPH.

I gave the tech guy a hypothetical question.  4.6L 300 hp.  His answer
was vague.  "You need 110 GPH and your bowl probably won't go dry".  I
replied to him that was good information, so the 50 GPH pumps could be
a problem?  His answer was "probably not".  Well that's clear as mud.

His bottom line?  The more GPH (@ 6 PSI minimum) the better, and use a
pressure regulator.
