Size wise, there's not too much difference between the BOP/Rover aluminum V8 
and the standard Chevy small block. If the size of the LS1 is as small or 
smaller than the sb, and the weight falls under the Ford 302, then as far as 
I'm concerned, it's a no-brainer - use the LS1 (assuming the cost and 
computer complexity are acceptable).

Let me re-phrase that: The decision is a no-brainer, but it will take a lot 
of head scratching to pull it off, whereas the 215 has been done so many 
times, and so much information/help is available, that it is almost a no 
brainer now. There's just about no problem you can encounter that hasn't been 
resolved by one of the members of this list, and they'll tell you how to 
resolve it freely.

If you're pretty good at this sort of thing, use the LS1; if not, take 
advantage of the work done by others, and use the 215.

But what do I know, I'm still trying to finish a Ford 302 TR6!  JMHO
