I have just completed the partial rebuild of my 1934 PA (PA0777) and had it
running on the road this week for the first time in 16 years, ready for next
weeks 40th Anniversary of the MMM Register events leading up to MG
Silverstone. Initial impressions are that the car is very sluggish on hills
compared to my 38 TA with MPJG engine of course!
The only area of concern at present is the distributor fitted to the car,
this is a DKYH4A 40196, not the correct DK4A 400186.... Does anyone know
what vehicle the DKYHA 40196 distributor came off,
Beardmore Taxi, 1939/40
Commer 15 and 20/25 cwt, 1939/40, 15/25 cwt, 1944-48, 25 cwt Forward control
and Super-poise, 1946/50
Hillman 14, 1939/40
Karrier1947/48, Cob junior and Colt, 1939/40
Bantam 1946/50,
 and whether it is
suitable for the PA?
Advance is 12-14 degrees at 2800 rpm, 4-8 degrees at 500 rpm, 1- 6 1/2
degrees at 400 rpm and no advance below 250 rpm. These are DISTRIBUTOR
shaft rpms on decelaeration. , ECM curve 282. Anti-clockwise rotation.
No idea if suitable for PA. Can't find DK4A-400186 in my Lucas books..
Regards, Bob Grunau
I will be looking for the correct DK4A distributor in
due course, but will have to make do with the other one for the time
being....
Happy days, Brian Rainbow Leamington Spa, U.K.
