Might the brass floats also have pinholes, causing them to fill with fuel a=
nd preventing them from rising as they should? The new nitro phyll=C2=A0flo=
ats solve that issue. If=C2=A0not, I=E2=80=99d suspect the distributor (int=
ernal ground wire or advence weights). Might also be worth buying another P=
ertronix module and a=C2=A03-ohm coil=C2=A0(always smart to have a spare al=
ong anyway) and see if it isn=E2=80=99t one of those. Still, it sounds more=
and more like an advance problem if the engine won=E2=80=99t reverse.=C2=

Which type/brand of pump do you have? I've seen pumps, both points and SS,=
do some unexplainable things. Another thought: something in the tank that =
intermittently blocks the pickup. We bought a used tank for our BN2 and exp=
erienced erratic behavior from the engine; my dad finally tracked it down t=
o a pinhole leak near where the pickup was soldered to the tank. Dad surmis=
ed the flux used to facilitate the soldering eventually etched the hole (th=
e tank was otherwise in good shape).

If they were stock in the open position it would be dumping gas out of th=
e overflow tubes---so, again, unlikely since it would still run.=C2=A0 I ha=
ve already changed fuel filter and blew out the line.=C2=A0 The pump pumps =
normally and each time I pulled the float bowl caps, they have been full of=
gas.=C2=A0 So--I have basically ruled out fuel starvation as a cause.=C2=
=A0=C2=A0 =C2=A0 in the garage she sits and purrs forever with no shutdown-=
-----so, as I mentioned, I can't ch spark =20
