Well, let's see. This primitive device has been running fine in most
cars for 35 years. It's also not Nissan- or Import-specific; Fords have
a few million of 'em in service. It is temperature-compensating and
maintains the accuracy of the gauges over a hundred-degree
temperature range (a simple fixed-voltage regulator won't do that). It
gets the gauges to come off '0' quickly (again, something a fixed-voltage
unit won't do). It does not burn out if someone installs the battery
backwards. And it costs only a few bucks.
If it ain't broke don't insult it
And if it is broke, just buy a new one from one of our vendors!
