Daniel,

yes the fan draws a terrific amount of amps, and if it is on old one, as in
20+ years old, it will even draw more. Typically it is just a really crude
DC motor with brushes the size of a starter motor rather than the relatively
smaller brushes on a generator or alternator.

I also have a '68 Mustang, and I put a breakerless point system in it, but
did not, as yet, take out the in-line (ballast) resistor, so after starting
the car, the voltage to the points is nominally 6 volts verses 12 volts. If
I forget and flip on my heater blower going under 20 mph, the car dies
because the voltage drops below 4 1/2 volts at the distributor, and the
transistors in the breakerless points quits working at that point, and the
car dies.

I flip off the fan, slap it into neutral, restart the engine, and off I go.

The 'stang works fine when driving around with the headlights on.

BTW - Another power drawer (engine power this time), the A/C compressor on
your other car puts out more BTUs than the one in your house.

 Jim,
Why mmechanical?? I was thinking electric from Auto Meter. Arent
they supposed to be really good gauges?? Expensive anyways. I have a
volt meter. Need it with all the extra stuff I got on the car.
Here's a strange thing.. My voltmeter shows the most deflection
when I turn on the heater fan?? How could this be?? The gauge is telling
me that the heater fan is drawing more jsuice than the headlights?? That
just does nto seem right to me.. I have the volt meter hooked to the
+ terminal on the batt and to a more local ground (I think).

Hey, I haven't given up on the supercharger idea yet... I'm jsut waiting
to win the lottery so taht I can do it right!!
