Don't remember the timing mark/tab setup on a U-2-, but I'll throw this
out just in case it might work. On the L-motors there are basically two
styles; early, with a small/fragile pointer on the fuel pump (passenger)
side of the front cover and many marks on the crank pulley and late,
which had a hefty tab on the dist side with timing numbers on it and a
single mark on the pulley. Not only is is MUCH easier to see, but if you
a second mark on the pulley 20 offset from the first one you can set
total advance pretty accurately. Just run you engine up until the second
mark's not moving and set it to the desired total by adding 20 to the
indicated number.

If it's applicable, great, if not, never mind. Better yet, maybe someone
can fabricate numbered tabs for the U-20. You can always add new marks in
the pulley.

FWIW,
Ron
