John,

To clarify, you mean two TDC's per cylinder, per firing. While one 
cylinder is at TDC starting to fire, a second is exhausting and starting 
the intake cycle. Half a turn later of the crank (180 degrees), a third 
cylinder is at TDC starting to fire, while a fourth is exhausting and 
starting the intake cycle. So, only two TDC's per crank revolution that 
are on their compression stroke. So, two opposing areas on the 
flywheel's ring gear that get worn. Got it!

So my question is, the next time you replace the clutch, can you 
dismount the flywheel, turn it 90 degrees, remount thereby getting 
"fresh" teeth for this stopping area?
