If the original request hadn't specified something like "south of Coventry"
(sorry threw original away), I'd highly recommend Donington Museum -- there's
no finer collection of F1 cars anywhere.

Interested in aircraft? Duxford has about 150 *flyable* aircraft from 1914 to
1980 (about 60miles north of London); Old Warden has about 50 flyable aircraft
from 1908 to 1940 -- and is 30 miles from Duxford.

Motor bikes? The National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham (opposite the
National Exhibition Centre -- easy to find).

Ships? Portsmouth Dockyard for HMS Victory and the Mary Rose. There are lots
along the Thames Embankment in London too.

Computers? How about Babbage's Difference Engine in the Science Museum in
London. For hard-line techies interested in everything, the Science Museum
will take about 4 days to get around

If you go to Stonehenge (highly recommended) go also to the Avebury Ring not
very far away.

Ought to take in a castle; I'm not too familiar with southern England, but
Dover would fit the bill. One of the old stately homes should also be on your
list -- there are many to chose from, just pick almost anything from the
National Trust guidebook.

Hmm, how long was this trip going to be?

Cheers,

Mike
