David,

I had a radiator that was slightly damaged in a front ender (just for the
record, I wasn't involved!) repaired about a year ago and I have not had
any problems with it. In the accident, the radiator was mashed into the
fan and the top tank tore away from 2 or 3 of the vertical tubes in the
core. The shop just soldered all the holes shut and sent me on my way. I
have not noticed any overheating (at least no more than you would expect).
The fix cost about $35 bucks I think, which is a lot less than a new one.
I say give repairing it a shot. If it doesn't hold up, at least it will
have bought you some time to look for a good used one.

Good luck,
Mike
