Isn't it possble that this "Parkdale" person was simply informing Cathy10
that she might now be a high bidder BECAUSE the other bids had been
retracted? Perhaps "Parkdale" was thinking Cathy10 might not be aware she
was the high bidder. I don't see anything malicious in the e-mail he sent,
and in fact he is only directing her to look at the "bid history," and not
the explanations.

Furthermore, if there is anyone you might have reason to be upset with, it
should be the "Krustee" person who was not consistent between his posted
reason for withdrawing, and his personal e-mail to you. Whatever the case,
if Cathy10 was so dramatically swayed in her purchase decision by an
unqualified, unsolicited e-mail from a complete stranger, she is either
extremely wishy washy--and may have backed out regardless before you had a
check in hand--or else she is not being completely candid with you in
ascribing her reasons for withdrawing her bid. (apologies to Cathy10). You
might want to consider the possibility that all these "auction interruptus"
sufferers are really trying to justify their actions to you and ultimately to
themselves. They know they weren't following the rules.
By the way, did you have to pay E-Bay to host the auction, or do they take a
commission only on a successful sale? Good luck in finding a new owner for
the car.
