Just wanted to write and let everybody know that I'm still here. I had
to take the computers down for reconfiguring.
BIG West 99 is scheduled for October 14-17, 1999 in Las Vegas Nevada.
Kurt and Fay Cramer are hosting the meet. Call the Santa Fe Hotel and
Casino to make reservations. Unfortunately, that's all the info I have
for now. Mark your calendars!
I passed my first Microsoft tes this afternoon, with several more to
follow, so things are looking up financially. I should have more than
enough time to save my $, fix any mechanical problems, and maybe even do
some major restoration work by the time the meet comes around.
Regardless of whether 1758 is ready for the long trip, cosmetically
restored or not, you can bet your life I'll be there-even if I have to
leave 1758 at home!

BTW, I narrowed down the tail light problem to a faulty headlamp switch.
It looks like you can "rebuild" them...that is, take it apart, clean all
the electrical contacts, test it for proper operation, and reassemble.
Although there are several kit cars with gullwing doors
(cimbiria/sterling, aztec 7, aquilla, bradley GT I and II) chances are
people tend to confuse Bricklins with the Bradley GT-II because of the
gullwing doors, similar looks (esp. the rear window), and the fact that
both cars start with "Br". If somebody calls your "B" a kit car, pop the
hood and have the person take a look. Ask them if they've evr heard of a
VW kit with a front mounted engine. Show them the VIN plate. If they
still don't believe, point them to the web site. if they contiunue to
call it a kit, they obviously don't know anything about kit cars or
Bricklins! I remember the first time I took 1758 in for repair. The
mechanic called my "B" a "glorified VW"....Oooh....that made me sooooo
mad! Don't worry - I didn't slam the door on his leg =) I just
explained to him the fact the "B's" were factory built, not kits.
