Frankly, none of the people I've recognised as posting that Hoosiers are
unsuitable for road use actually use them.  I'm sure that some are posting
from their direct experience, though.  My extensive experience is that all
R tires are more prone to picking up nails than non-R tires.  However,
I've only had one flat with a Hoosier, and it was a huge screw that would
have gone through anything.  The tire deflated normally and was repaired
normally, and raced normally after that.  I've driven Hoosiers to events
since the radials were introduced.  YMMV.

BTW, I also think that Hoosier disclaimer is bogus - if they sell the
things with a DOT stamp on them, the disclaimer isn't going to get them
very far if the tires were to catastrophically destruct under normal
highway conditions.
