I'll back up Ralph's comments -
Having changed many springs/shocks the new tool is quite cool - but it
doesn't 'quite' work on Miata shocks (at least '99s) - close though. When I
do the Proteg or GTI though..
Another opinion - always use the safety hooks. It is also my opinion that
using the 'normal' spring compressors to replace springs is much tougher
(and dangerous) than just replacing shocks. It is the releasing/compressing
of the unrestrained shock that is scary.
