Mike - I haven't seen this type of descrimination. I had established a long
term relationship with a tire/wheel place in San Jose. (Where I live) With a
wife and two driving children, I always had plenty of "Grunt"-type auto work to
have done. Wheel alignment, new street tires, brakes, etc. By establishing a
relationship with that store, I was able to lean on them once in a while to do
race car work for me. They mounted wheel/tire combos which were really a pain.
And for my Camaro, they must have busted and mounted dozens of tires and wheels
down for me over the years. Not too long ago, they closed that facility so I
followed one of their managers to his new spot. I still take my cars there for
normal work. For more specialized work, like corner weighting or very fragile
modular wheels, I would (and did) find a specialist. To corner weight and align
my CP Camaro, I went to Custom Alignment in Mt. View. Although Pricey, they did
exactly what I wanted, suggest other things for m!
e to do, also needed, and, all-i
n-all, I was satisfied. I am Sure that Barry Spencer or Jack Chew or a number
of others would be fine too. So my plan was (and is) to establish a
relationship with the shop, so that they want to please you to keep you coming
