yes, more or less. less heat cycles and exposure to the elements is
theoretically better, but street tires in my experience aren't particularly
sensitive to this.

yes, shaving street tires is kind of silly unless the stakes are high. and
your fellow competitors would probably snicker. When I was in novice, I had
3 different brands of M&S tires on the car at one point, and never anything
better than a D60A2. I guess I just got caught up in the theoretical aspects
of the question. Tread depth makes a huge difference.

tires with soft sidewalls (street tires) really like a wide rim. The lower
gear ratio would be a nice benefit though. No answers here, sorry.
