Doesn't a full-tread anything else eventually turn into a "shaved"
tire? Or does the wear pattern make a worn tire less desirable than
a shaved tire?

We're trying to win Novice, not Nationals...

Another option I hadn't pointed out would be to run 215/40-16 tires
instead, but the selection isn't quite as good and the specified
minimum wheel width (7") is wider than what we've got (6.5").
Potentially more grip, and slightly shorter, but with a potential
degradation in response. Available tires are the A520, Pirelli P7000,
and Kumho 712.

Good idea, or bad idea?
