Sounds like a good idea to me. But first, Mazda has to sell a
rotary powered car in the US. They haven't done that in a few
years. While I would love to see that happen, it's been long
enough that I remain skeptical.

The Rx-evolv looks neat, but I don't think it is the best
application for a rotary. The best feature of the rotary design
is its power to weight ratio, better than any piston engine. But
the rotary has poor fuel economy. This makes it the ideal
powerplant for lightweight high performance cars. Now if Mazda
made a super-Miata with the new 275 hp dual ported 13B rotary
that is targeted for the RX-evolv, they'd have nearly twice the
power of the standard Miata with the same light curb weight and
perfect balance it already has. That would be quite a car -- and
if it were available today I would not have bought the Panoz!
