I suspect you may be confusing road race standards with solo II standards.

Helmets with Snell 2000 certifications are reportedly now available and are
thus now the "current" standard.

Road race requirement is current or one previous, so at least a '95 would be
required.

Solo requirement is current or two previous, so a '90 at least would be
required.

'90s were good in road race last year, not this year. '85s were good in Solo
last year, not this year.
