Oil filter issue

I replaced the standard oil filter, started the engine and had virtually no
oil pressure.  Must have replaced the filter incorrectly.  Can anyone point me
in the direction of a diagram showing the orientation of parts and cannister
in a standard TR-6 oil filter setup.  I did find a 4 pointed piece (on the
floor)that must fit over the main bolt but I don't know where it goes.  Need
some help.
