TR6 1/2 shaft

Hi folks,
        I have removed the 1/2 shafts prior to rebuilding them, but I 
could not figure out how to get them separated from the brake backing 
plate and shoes ... so I just unbolted the emergency brake, and 
removed the brake line and pulled out the entire assembly.
        I would really like to separate them,but can't figure out how 
... Bentley is  no help...

Any Help Greatly Appreciated ...
