I agree completely. Sometimes you learn something even if you think you knew
the answer. If all the replies are off list the readership will definitely
suffer since people would likely not read it unless its time for them to
post a question.

Lots of times I see questions like this, and wait for the reply to them, but
I never see it. I think in many cases the response to the question is made
off-list.
I doubt that Shane will respond off-list, but I think many people do. Many
times I get off-list replies to my questions, and I often think that there
are others out there who would like the info too.
I would like to see almost every response be made on-list, with off-list
responses saved for unusual situations. I am here to learn as much as I can,
and would like to at least have the chance to read all the replies. If I'm
not interested I can delete them quickly.
Just my wish for the day.
