a wheel alignment guy told me that you need to spin the wheel after your initial tightening so the bearings kind of seat themselves, then do the adjustment again -- and possibly check the adjustment

Thanks for the info on how to check the bearings! The heat was equal on both sides and the brakes have been all rebuilt. One caliper actually froze on me before causing severe heat issues on one side

Ben--At 150,000 miles I got around to changing the inside front wheel bearings, and re-used the original felt seals. That was many years ago, and still no evidence of any grease working its way out.
