The internal spring should be strong enough to return the piston. It's known to break on the earlier cars, I guess TR6's are getting old enough to start suffering the same problem. Mine came out in

Hi Bud It sounds like a re-build (or at least a strip, clean and inspect) is in order as the spring should push it back, these have been known to break and jam the piston down BTDT. Graham. 2500 PI M

I had the same problem, and a MC rebuild kit solved the problem. It's been about 4 years now with no leaks. As far as bore size, TRF should know which one you need. The bore needs to be free of pits
