- Probably because the original rule was written many years before airbags were invented, and it was common to swap out that old mundane plastic wheel with something sexy from the aftermarket supplier

- the rules state very clearly that airbag steering wheels cannot be changed and there is no up/back-dating allowed in Stock; at a minimum you will need to propose to the SEB that new language be inser
