The gasket goes between the sender and the tank, the ring that tighten the sender onto the tank makes contact with the back of the sender. Please make sure the gasket is properly seal before filling

I just happen to have my wiring harness at work and the bulb you are referring to are Bayonet base is .275" or around 1/4", it is rated at 2 Watts. The length of it is around .799" or just over 3/4".
