Another thing we were told about the Saab free wheel was that when decending a hill with the engine providing braking and a closed throttle, engine lubrication was greatly reduced. This was because before the V-4 engine they used a 3 cylinder 2 stroke. Oil was mixed with gas of course. It seemed to make sense at the time.
