Also freewheel was fitted to several British cars pre WW2. Certain models
of the larger Morris, possibly Lanchester and Daimler and famously Rover,
who continued with freewheel right up to their P4 model.
The trouble was that brakes were'nt so good in those drum days when engine
braking was recommended by the experts. It did'nt take long for brake fade
to start when on a long descent.!
