Hello Barry,
No-one mentioned the fact that on a 6-cylinder Triumph engine, if the head
is skimmed (likely on a rebuild) and nothing changed to the rocker set-up, a
rocker set screw can just touch the inside of the valve cover. You will
notice a nice shiny spot on the inside of the cover!
If this is the case, you should either shim the pedestals by the amount
taken of the head or change to shorter push-rods. If you shim the pedestals,
don't forget the hole for the oil feed!
