In a book called Racing British Sports Cars by Terry Jackson its stated:There
is some disagreement over whether a rear sway bar is needed on early TR's. Many
racers say that adding a sway bar only increases the natural understeer of the
car. Some such as Hedke have added a 1/2"bar at the back with good results. Try
a small bar but dont be surprised if it does more harm than good . " "Leaf
sping mods are recommended for the TR3". For the TR4 he recommends" the same
spring mods and to install Delrin bushings at the rear of the springs and
retain the stock rubber bushing at the front spring mount. Traction bars and a
Panhard rod are also recommended,as is the use of MGB lever shock valves with
50 weight oil. With these changes the TR4 will not likely need a rear sway
bar." This info is for racing but would probably apply to a street car if
you wanted better handling. Depends on how far you want to go with it. Karl
