Doesn't the foil padding have an adhesive already? Most sound deadening
products are self sticking on one side. My fatmat sound deadening mats were
designed as a barrier to stop excessive heat and sound. They are extemely
sticky on one side. Using Liquid Nails you will need to spread it out to
flatten the compound down, once its it set if you ever need to remove it
you'll need to use a grinder to get it off. You would be better served if
you went to the local carpet store and bought a roll of two sided carpet
tape, it sticks like liquid nails but is workable enough to remove it if you
need to in the future.
BTW: I have no financial in Fatmat, I just bought their product and am
pleased with it's use. The one thing that irritated me was the length of
time it took them to send me my mats but then I hate waiting for a
shipments. Their bulk package is 100 Sq FT roll of mat that are 18 inchs
wide 2 rolls 33.5'Length X 18" Wide. For around $90.00, I did my whole
interior floor pans, rear shelf, doors, firewall, trans tunnel and trunk and
still have 3/4 of a roll left. I can still add a second layer if I need to
but so far haven't had the need.
Happy Motoring!
Jerry

Subject: [TR] 1/8" alum. foil padding
List,
I am considering using (Liquid Nail-like) adhesive to stick
aluminum-foil-like/padding (1/8" thick) to both top and bottom of gearbox
cover and floorpans. This roll of special padding says it keeps out
unwanted
heat and noise and is shiny on one side. Is there a good reason not to do
this? I will be especially careful not to trap-in moisture.
Thanks,
Paul Dorsey
