I'm a happy camper tonight as I was able to get my 64 TR4 up and running for
the first time in about 7 years - other than liberal use of Marvel mystery
oil in the cylinders, making sure I had oil pressure, and replacing a dried
up fuel pump it went pretty well. Sort of.
Randy,
Not real familiar with the TR4 Z/S, both my Fours have SU's. But it sure
sounds like a stuck needle valve in the offending Carb. Lots of bad stuff
coming from the tank can get past the fuel bowl and in the valves to block
them
up. I have had gas everywhere due to stuck float valves in the SU's.
Usually, you have to take them out to clear them. Sometimes they need to be
replaced. The replacement Gross Jets are real notorious for sticking wide
open.
For sure you need to stop any contamination coming from the tank by
restoring the tank. I like the Gas Tank Renu process available at many
Radiator
shops. Just search Gas Tan Renu and you will most likely find a local dealer.
Hey Congratulations are in order Too!
Cheers,
Darrell
