TR3B is not an official designation, but was named by it's American users.
Triumph wanted to discontinue the TR3A, so they introduced the TR4. Their
American dealers were afraid that the customers would not like the more boxy
TR4, so they convinced the company to continue to make TR3s along with the
TR4, for about a year. These were the TR3Bs. There were two batches made.
The first batch had the TR3 engine and the all-synchro TR4 tranny, and the
second batch included the TR4 engine with a bit more displacement along with
the TR4 tranny. The "3B" is an interesting car to collect, because the were
made with leftover parts and not all were the same. They were the last TR3s.
