Speaking of low-mileage TR6's, this is from the RM Auction Report (Phoenix,
AZ) in this month's _Sports Car Market_ , pg. 73:
#208--1976 Triumph TR6 Convertible, factory hard top, CF58228UO. Tahiti
blue/tan. LHD. Odo: 70 miles. "Claimed to be all original with only 500
miles covered but wear and tear suggest differently. Stone chips on grille
and rocker panels looked recent. Rust on engine parts, on other hand,
looked like result of careless storage. Cond. 3. SOLD AT $31,900.
"Despite low mileage, this is an extraordinary price for a TR6. And all you
can do is ratchet down the value by driving it or put it in a hermetically
sealed bag and wish you could drive it."
Wasn't there another such report on the list about a low-mileage 6 going for
over $20,000? These rarities are being sold now and then---by who would
want one? Can't be sure it was stored properly. Rubber parts and seals go
bad, etc, etc. I suppose with "hermetically sealed" storage, a car may
retain it's "showroom" condition---but then what? You still don't have a
drivable car, and what's the point of that? Better to find a car that been
driven 20 miles once a week. Let's see. . .after 25 years that would be. .
