Gauges

I know this subject has been tossed around before, but I don't remember any 
of the suggestions.  I've gotten some new glass for my gauges, converting to 
the convex style.  What can I use under the chrome ring to seal the gauge?  
Some type of putty?  I don't want to use something that would  be permanent.

By the way, on different subject.  My thanks to John Middlesworth of Chapel 
Hill, NC., who donated the clip that holds the sediment bowl to fuel pump.
