Well, in first and second gears, there is more torque being transmitted
through the overrunning clutch than in higher gears.  Actually, this is
probably more evidence that this is where the slip is -- the torque through
the (main) clutch depends upon load and engine RPM -- more slippage is likely
in higher gears, where the gearbox gives the engine less mechanical
advantage, and thus there is more load at any RPM than in lower gears.
