hi,

my 250 has always had a problem of running on even after
the ignition has been turned off. the running condition
of the motor seems to have little effect on this, so
my attemps to tune it out have failed. the part that
bothers me is that when it finally comes to a halt it
often makes a horrible gasp accompanied by violent
bucking at which point the motor looks like it spins
briefy in the wrong direction? (sounds terrible)
over the years i have gotten use to letting out the
clutch while turning the car off, that stops things
just fine, but i would like to fix this!

so,

what causes a motor to run on or "diesel"?
how to stop it?
could my motor actually spin backwards?

thanks,

kbt

p.s. she bombed state inspection big time yesterday, hole in
muffler (always wanted to replace exaust with SS), front wheel
bearings shot (no big deal) and right inner tie rod was bad
(oh boy! don't know that one,... yet).

i just love this car!
